The Candidate tests real skills in real time in the real world. The types of challenges will vary, depending on a number of variables such as budget, location and skills you want to see demonstrated, however here are just a sample of a couple we could use, to give you an idea:
Shopping – Clients are given an extensive shopping list, combining hard to find items with some of the more popular items and a sum of money. Using leadership, delegation, time management and negotiation skills, teams have an allotted time to get as much as they can for the very best price.
Promotion – Clients are given a business to promote and funds with which to use. Using leadership, marketing, communication and research skills, teams have to get more people through the door than the team/s they are competing against. This can also be adapted to be on a dollar per person spend criteria
The beauty of this activity is firstly, that it is totally flexible and can be adapted to suit the clients brief (so we put in challenges that showcase various skills). Secondly it has been designed specifically for smaller groups and ideal to test the highest level executive or a fellow team member. And lastly, what better way to entertain your team for a day or afternoon rather than building more imaginary rafts over more imaginary lakes!
Whilst first and foremost it is designed for “entertainment”, we have also adapted this for clients that have one particular Executive position to fill. You often have a shortlist of names and group interviews or second and sometimes third and fourth interviews make it difficult to see how your candidates really perform. Working closely with the client we can then integrate “The Candidate” into the final process, saving you precious time and money. You in turn can then be confident you have the right person in the position!
